Chennai, Dec 04: Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS) has announced the commencement of admissions for the academic year 2026–2027, introducing a range of new programs in GenAI, Cloud Security, Healthcare Management, and Liberal Studies. Applications for the Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science Engineering Entrance Examination (HITSEEE) 2026 are open are available, for both Indian and international students.
HITSEEE is a national-level entrance test designed to identify and nurture bright minds for programs in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, and Design. The exam will be conducted in hybrid mode, allowing candidates to appear online from home or at designated centers across India. The test evaluates proficiency in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English, and General Awareness, ensuring a fair and comprehensive selection process. The university also announced the schedule for the HITS Common Aptitude Test (HITSCAT) 2026 for admissions to its non-engineering programs.
This year, HITS has introduced several new and interdisciplinary programs to prepare students for emerging career opportunities. These include B.Tech CSE with specialization in GenAI and Cloud Security in collaboration with Google, B.Sc Economics and Finance, B.Sc Political Science and International Relations, Bachelor of Visual Arts, Master in Healthcare Management, B.Sc Catering, BBA with specialization in Franchise Management, and an Executive MBA. The admission process requires a minimum of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) for engineering applicants.
The university also offers an extensive scholarship system that goes beyond academic merit. Top performers in HITSEEE and HITSCAT receive 100% tuition waivers, while toppers in +2/HSC exams are eligible for the Dr. K.C.G. Verghese Memorial Scholarship. The Dr. Elizabeth Verghese Girl Empowerment Scholarship encourages women to pursue higher education, especially in technical fields. Other scholarships include aid for specially-abled students, children of defense personnel and martyrs, and athletes excelling in sports.

The last date to apply for HITSEEE 2026 is April 22, 2026. The examination will be held from April 27 to May 2, followed by counselling from May 13 to 20. Applications for HITSCAT 2026 will open on December 10, 2025, with exams scheduled for May 25 and 26 and counselling from June 1 to 5. Classes for all programs will commence in July 2026.
