Chandigarh, Feb 16: The School of Technology Management & Engineering (STME) at SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) Chandigarh Campus commenced 2026 with a forward-looking academic initiative — a Two-Day Workshop on “Design Thinking for ESG: Innovative Approaches to Sustainable Solutions”, held on 30–31 January 2026.
The workshop was inaugurated in the gracious presence of Dr. Meena Chintamaneni, Pro-Vice Chancellor, and Dr. Jyotsna Singh, Campus Director, NMIMS Chandigarh. The inaugural address was delivered by Dr. Sushil Dogra, Scientist-B, Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee, who emphasized the critical role of ESG in driving sustainable development.
Insightful and interactive sessions were conducted by Dr. Preetjot Kaur, Dr. Aditya Bakshi, Ms. Sukhwant Kaur, Ms. Harsimran Kaur, Dr. Mohit Pahwa, and Dr. Ashish Mogra, offering multidisciplinary perspectives on sustainability, innovation, governance, and responsible leadership. The workshop concluded with an enriching session by Dr. Himanshu Verma, Assistant Professor (CSE), NIT Jalandhar, who shared valuable insights on technology-driven sustainability solutions. Participants also gained practical exposure through an industrial visit to the Sewerage Treatment Plant, Chandigarh.
5-Day ESG Training Programme for MSMEs
Building on this momentum, the School of Law (SOL), NMIMS Chandigarh, under the aegis of the Mirae Asset Foundation – NMIMS ESG Research Chair, conducted a 5-Day Training Programme on “Embedding ESG in MSMEs Growth: A Pathway to Responsible and Sustainable Leadership” from 9th–13th February 2026.
The programme commenced with ceremonial lamp lighting by Prof. (Dr.) Rashmi Khorana Nagpal, Associate Dean, School of Law, who also served as Programme Convenor. The gathering was virtually addressed by Dr. Ramesh Bhat, Vice Chancellor, NMIMS, who underscored the importance of innovation ecosystems in sustainable development. Dr. Meena Chintamaneni, Pro-Vice Chancellor, joined online and highlighted alignment between academic frameworks and evolving ESG priorities. Dr. Jyotsna Singh, Director, NMIMS Chandigarh, encouraged participants to integrate governance and sustainability standards into professional practice.

Community and sustainability leadership perspectives were shared by Mr. Sumit Bhardwaz, President, Green Planet Society, and Mrs. Sudesh Mittal, Retd. Principal and Sustainability Enthusiast, who highlighted their 112-acre urban forest initiative and plastic recycling efforts.
Academic insights were contributed by Prof. Rahul K. Mishra, Prof. Santosh Rangnekar (IIT Roorkee), Dr. Karan Babbar, and Dr. Gurpreet Mehdiratta (IICA-certified Independent Director and ESG Practitioner).
A key highlight of the programme was the industry interaction at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) with Mr. Anurag Gupta, Managing Director, Usha Yarns Ltd. and Past Chairman, CII Chandigarh UT, followed by an industrial visit to Godrej Industries, Mohali, to understand sustainability practices in action.
The valedictory ceremony was graced by Mr. Dheeraj Kumar, Representative of Mirae Asset Foundation, along with Prof. Navneet Vibhaw and Mr. Honey Karun, marking the successful culmination of an intensive and impactful five-day engagement.

One-Day Workshop: Empowering Women & Girls in Science
On 11 February 2026, NMIMS Chandigarh organized a One-Day Workshop on “Empowering Women & Girls in Science: Breaking Barriers and Building Futures” under the Mirae Asset Foundation – NMIMS ESG Research Chair.
The Inaugural & Keynote Session was delivered by Dr. Meena Krishania, Scientist-C, CIAB Mohali, who shared her journey in scientific research and leadership. An expert lecture on “Bridging the Gender Gap in STEM: Challenges and Opportunities” was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Jyotsna Singh, Director (I/C), NMIMS Chandigarh.
The workshop brought together 97 participants from NMIMS Chandigarh, government schools, NGOs, and neighboring universities. A major highlight was the Student Idea Showcase — “She Innovates: Ideas that Inspire” — encouraging young innovators to present impactful solutions addressing real-world challenges.
Upcoming National Symposium
Continuing its commitment to academic excellence and national development, the School of Technology Management & Engineering (STME), NMIMS Chandigarh, is set to organize a Two-Day National Symposium on “Strengthening National Security through Mathematics and Physics in Engineering” on 27–28 February 2026.
Presented under the aegis of the Mirae Asset Foundation – NMIMS ESG Research Chair, the symposium will bring together academicians, scientists, defence R&D professionals, research scholars, and students to deliberate on the strategic integration of mathematics, physics, and engineering for national security and sustainable development.
Through this comprehensive series of workshops, training programmes, and symposia, NMIMS Chandigarh has reinforced its leadership in ESG education, governance excellence, interdisciplinary innovation, and inclusive academic engagement—empowering future-ready professionals to lead responsibly and sustainably.
