Chandigarh, Feb 26: The Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) vertical of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured multiple EPC orders to develop electricity grid infrastructure both domestically and internationally, reinforcing its leadership in high-tech power solutions.
In India, L&T PT&D has been awarded a contract for the design, supply, and construction of two 220 kV Gas Insulated Substations (GIS) in the Durgapur–Raniganj–Asansol industrial belt of West Bengal. The project also includes associated transmission line segments with advanced conductors and multi-circuit towers. These initiatives aim to stabilise voltage profiles and enhance the reliability of power networks, supporting industrial and infrastructure growth in the region.
In the Middle East, L&T PT&D has secured orders from key utilities for turnkey construction of five substations and over 250 km of transmission lines across three countries, with projects reaching 500 kV capacity. One of the contracts further includes the supply and installation of a 400 kV underground cable system, demonstrating L&T’s expertise in high-voltage, high-technology grid solutions.
These orders underscore the growing global focus on grid modernisation, driven by rising energy demand, evolving energy mixes, and energy security imperatives. They also reflect L&T’s reputation for delivering safe, sustainable, and timely power infrastructure solutions to its customers.
