New Delhi, Oct 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India is moving towards a future where aircraft made in the country will gain global recognition, much like Indian pilots are already respected around the world.
Addressing an event, the Prime Minister highlighted India’s growing capabilities in aviation and manufacturing, expressing confidence that the country’s aerospace sector will increasingly contribute to the global aviation industry.
Modi said India’s progress in aviation is not limited to producing skilled pilots. The country is also building the technological and manufacturing capabilities needed to develop aircraft domestically.
He emphasised that the growing strength of India’s manufacturing ecosystem, engineering talent and technological capabilities can help the country emerge as a stronger player in the global aerospace sector.
The Prime Minister’s remarks come as India continues to focus on expanding domestic manufacturing and reducing dependence on imports across strategic sectors. Aviation and aerospace are among the areas where the government has been encouraging greater participation from Indian manufacturers, technology companies and suppliers.
India’s expanding aviation market is also creating opportunities for domestic aerospace manufacturing, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), components and related services. The sector has significant potential to generate skilled employment while strengthening the country’s industrial base.
The government’s broader Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives have placed greater emphasis on developing domestic capabilities in high-technology industries, including defence and aerospace.
Modi’s comments underline the ambition to move beyond being a major aviation market and build India into a country capable of designing, manufacturing and supplying aircraft and aerospace products for global markets.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that, in the coming years, the world will increasingly recognise India’s aircraft manufacturing capabilities alongside its well-established reputation for producing highly skilled aviation professionals.
