National, 15 July, 2025: In a significant step toward fostering innovation and building industry-ready talent in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) sector, Nemetschek India and Anna University have officially inaugurated the Anna–Nemetschek AEC Centre of Excellence at the Department of Civil Engineering, College of Engineering, Guindy.
The state-of-the-art Centre has been established as part of the MoU signed between the two institutions in March 2025, reflecting their shared vision to bridge the academia-industry gap. The facility was inaugurated by Dr. P Thiaga Rajan, Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology & Digital Services, Government of Tamil Nadu, in the presence of distinguished dignitaries including Mr. Sunil Pandita, Chief Division Officer, Nemetschek Group; Prof. K. Shanmuga Sundaram, Director, CUIC, Anna University; Prof. S. Kanmani, Head of the Civil Engineering Department; Mr. Nirmalya Chatterjee, Managing Director, Nemetschek India; and Prof. K. P. Jaya, Professor of Civil Engineering, alongside esteemed members of the faculty.
The Anna–Nemetschek AEC Centre of Excellence is designed to serve as a collaborative learning hub where students from Anna University and its affiliated colleges can access industry-aligned training and certification programs. These initiatives will focus on equipping the next generation of AEC professionals with practical skills, exposure to cutting-edge technology, and real-world application knowledge.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sunil Pandita, Chief Division Officer, Nemetschek Group, said, “This Centre marks a meaningful step in our commitment to building a future-ready AEC workforce in India. By working closely with Anna University, we aim to nurture a talent pool that is not only academically sound but also fully prepared to meet the evolving demands of the industry.”
Prof. S. Kanmani, Head of the Civil Engineering Department, added, “The launch of the Anna–Nemetschek AEC Centre of Excellence is a proud moment for the department. This initiative will significantly enhance the learning experience for our students by integrating advanced technologies and practical training into the academic framework. We are confident it will open new avenues for research, innovation, and industry collaboration.”
Adding to it Dr. P Thiaga Rajan, Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology & Digital Services, Government of Tamil Nadu also shown his support and mentioned in his social media post on the inauguration of the Nemetschek Centre of Excellence at Anna University marks a significant step as AI, ML, and IT continue to redefine education. He wrote that this collaboration between academia, industry, and government is a powerful example of how technology can build future-ready talent. The Nemetschek Group’s generous decision to offer their software suite free to students will accelerate learning and innovation. Backed by the ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu, this Centre will emerge as a vital hub for research, training, and skill development in Civil and Architectural disciplines ensuring they evolve with the times and continue driving national progress.
In driving the programs at the Centre, Nemetschek India will collaborate with its implementation partner, ICT Academy, to bring scalable and sustainable training models that benefit students and faculty alike.
