URDEBUT Expands to Canada, Championing South Asian Emerging Artists on a Global Stage

Mumbai / Toronto – July 9, 2025 — After a breakout debut year in India, URDEBUT — the first platform globally dedicated exclusively to launching debutant artists — has officially announced its expansion into Canada working together with Warner Music Canada. With this move, URDEBUT aims to amplify its mission of discovering and nurturing emerging musical talent, especially from the growing South Asian diaspora.

Backed by renowned Indian entrepreneurs and co-founders, Nikhil Dwivedi, Mayuri Gupta and Ankush Dharmani of EYP Creations, URDEBUT has quickly carved out a distinctive space in the Indian music landscape. Now, by establishing operations in Canada, it becomes the first platform in the country solely focused on debutant talent, with a strong commitment to elevating South Asian-Canadian voices in music.

“There’s an undeniable wave of South Asian creativity coming out of Canada, from Toronto to Vancouver and we believe it’s time to build a launchpad for that talent,” said Nikhil Dwivedi, Founder of URDEBUT and CEO of EYP Creations Canada.

URDEBUT is not just a platform, it’s a movement – one that gives undiscovered voices the tools, guidance, and stage they deserve.”

As part of its Canadian debut, URDEBUT announced the signing of its first local artist, Gurpreet Marwah, marking the beginning of a long-term commitment to talent in the region. The announcement was made at a launch event in Toronto attended by prominent music executives, creators, and members of the Canadian and South Asian music communities.

Canada is home to some of the most passionate and genre-defying new talent,” said Kristen Burke, President of Warner Music Canada. “The arrival of URDEBUT brings an important infrastructure that will help bridge the gap between grassroots musicians and global stages.”

A Proven Track Record in India

URDEBUT’s rapid success in India over the past year has laid a powerful foundation for its international expansion. The platform has launched over 40 original songs across genres like indie-pop, R&B, and soul, introducing six breakout artists — Kushagra, Tanishka, Bhoomi, Hemanshi, Abeer, and Rap ID.

Among its standout achievements, Kushagra’s track “Finding Her” climbed to #128 on the Spotify Global Top Songs chart and held the #1 position in India for an entire month, while “Baawra,” his collaboration with Tanishka, entered Spotify India’s Top Songs chart. Bhoomi’s “Jogan” made it to #20 on the Viral Songs India list, and Kushagra’s “Dard” peaked at #70.

The momentum was further amplified by endorsements from celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Nimrat Kaur, and significant editorial recognition — including Tanishka’s selection for Spotify’s Radar program and Kushagra’s features in Apple Music’s Up Next and YouTube’s Megaphone initiative.

URDEBUT artists have already graced stages at premier live events like Zomaland, Horn Ok Fest, and the Bollywood Music Project, while also attracting top-tier brand collaborations with YSL, OnePlus, Meta AI, L’Oréal, JBL, and more — solidifying URDEBUT’s position as a powerful launchpad for next-gen artists.

 A Vision Beyond Borders

With global music audiences showing increasing appetite for diverse voices and cultural narratives, URDEBUT’s Canada launch is poised to ride the growing momentum of South Asian music on the world stage. From viral hits to strategic brand deals, the platform offers artists a 360-degree launch plan — spanning mentorship, production, creative direction, and digital strategy.

“URDEBUT is building the kind of infrastructure we desperately need — one that is artist-first and future-ready,” added Dwivedi. “Canada is only the beginning.”
