This is the victory of our youth, our elders, our uncles and aunties, our shop owners, our taxi and Uber drivers, our teachers, our parents who worked long hours so their children could dream bigger. This is a victory for every immigrant who came to New York hoping not only to live here but to belong here. Zohran has always stayed focused on what matters: affordability, fairness, dignity for working families, and a city where everyone has a chance to stand tall. He listened to the struggles of real people, and he spoke with clarity and courage. We have shown that immigrant dreams do not just survive in New York  they lead New York. Today, our community did not just witness history. Today, we helped shape it.” Chauhan added, “As we celebrate Diwali the Festival of Lights Zohran’s victory shines like a Diwali lamp, symbolizing hope, inclusion, and a brighter future for all New Yorkers. I have no doubt that he will do a great job leading this city with compassion and vision.” Dilip Chauhan, known for his advocacy and for helping make Diwali an official holiday in New York City public schools, called this moment “a light of unity and pride for the entire South Asian community.”
