Rabada Ka Kabada Kar De’: Parthiv Patel Shares an Unforgettable Ravi Shastri Moment
India, 28th October, 2025: Speaking on ‘The Great Indian Cricket Show’ on Doordarshan, former India wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel shared a lively memory from India’s 2018 Test tour of South Africa, highlighting the unique motivational style of then head coach Ravi Shastri.
Recalling the third Test in Johannesburg, which India won by 63 runs, Parthiv revealed how Shastri’s straight-talking approach fired him up before going out to bat in the second innings.
Patel said, “Ravi Shastri sent me to open the Johannesburg Test match in the second innings. Usually, a coach would offer some advice about the pitch or playing conditions. But what did Mr. Shastri say? He simply said ‘Rabada Ka Kabada Kar De.’”
He added, “That’s exactly how he thinks. This is my personal experience. Just imagine the kind of energy and motivation he would have given to others in the team. Nobody does it better than him.”
Parthiv Patel was part of India’s Test squad during the 2018 South Africa tour, a series India lost 2–1 but capped off with a memorable win at the Wanderers. Over his international career, the Gujarat cricketer represented India in 25 Tests, 38 ODIs, and two T20Is, scoring over 1,700 runs across formats.
